Master of Education Programs

Undertaking a Master in Education at Acadia University is a different and more personal experience than can be found at larger institutions. At Acadia, you'll be immersed in a welcoming, technology-rich learning environment, and supported with personal and responsive client service. Our graduate students have a unique opportunity to form close working relationships with their instructors, fellow students, and other faculty in their program. We provide intellectually challenging, critically responsive, and innovative teacher education that fosters our students' academic achievement and personal development.

Open Acadia, in collaboration with our Graduate Studies Office, supports Acadia's School of Education in providing full-time and part-time students with study options that meet their diverse needs. Graduate courses in education are offered as fall, winter, spring, and summer courses in locations around Nova Scotia, as well as through a selected number of online courses.
  • Program options include Counselling, Curriculum Studies, Inclusive Education, and Leadership and students may also consider Thesis or Project options.

  • Students can apply to study as a full-time student or part-time student. Applications require a letter of intent, an online application and application fee, transcripts, a copy of your cv (resume), and two letters of reference (one Professional and one Academic).

  • Cohorts are available in collaboration with specific school boards or groups, and generally involve summer study at the Acadia campus.

  • Courses in the Summer Institute at Acadia are typically scheduled in the first three weeks of July, with the Institute's Summer Conference Day generally near the mid-point of that period.

  • Progress in your degree with a selection of flexible Online Courses that you can begin anywhere, anytime; the perfect option for combining your work with your study.

  • You can also apply for admission as an Independent Student; independent students can take up to four courses before applying for admission into a Master of Education degree program.

Specialized Master of Education in Curriculum Studies cohort programs (with cohort-specific application deadlines), are also available in the following areas:
  • Health Interprofessionals
