North Texas Rehab Center Early Childhood Intervention Program

The ECI Program provides educational, therapeutic and case management services to children from birth to 3 years of age, using a team approach that includes the family. Because children learn best in their natural environments, services are provided in the home or day care facility. Families learn how to help their children fully participate in their life and routines, such as meals, play activities, and bedtime. Teaching skills as part of family routines gives the family the opportunity to help children practice skills that they will continue to use.

Early childhood intervention services may be provided to children, ages birth to 3, living in Archer, Baylor, Clay, Foard, Hardeman, Jack, Montague, Wichita, Wilbarger, or Young Counties. ECI staff must determine that a child meets eligibility requirements in order to provide early childhood intervention services. Eligibility for ECI services is the same across the state of Texas.

Initial eligibility is established by:

· a medically diagnosed condition that leads to delay, such as spina bifida, cerebral palsy, autism or down's syndrome OR

· an auditory or visual impairment as defined by the Texas Education Agency OR

· a developmental delay as determined by our evaluation team of professionals.
