Lifecycle Milestone for EdgeSight

The EdgeSight product line follows the typical lifecycle policies and definitions described in more detail on the Lifecycle Phases and Lifecycle Milestones page. Product specific information follows below.

The EdgeSight product line includes a variety of solutions targeted for use in the following environments:
  1. XenApp environments: EdgeSight for XenApp primarily consists of a common EdgeSight server component and a unique EdgeSight for XenApp agent

  2. XenDesktop environments: EdgeSight for VDA primarily consists of a common EdgeSight server component and a unique EdgeSight for VDA agent

  3. Endpoints in other environments: EdgeSight for Endpoints primarily consists of a common EdgeSight server component and a unique EdgeSight for Endpoints agent

  4. NetScaler environments: EdgeSight for NetScaler primarily consists of a unique EdgeSight for NetScaler server component purpose built for NetScaler environments

  5. Load Testing of XenApp or XenDesktop environments: EdgeSight for Load Testing primarily consists of components that are packaged, supported, and released together

EdgeSight for XenApp, XenDesktop, or Endpoint

EdgeSight for XenApp, XenDesktop, or Endpoint environments are maintained and supported as follows:

Server component: Code level maintenance of the server component is typically delivered in the form of minor versions or hotfixes. When an updated version is released, it will supersede the previous versions unless otherwise noted by Citrix. Citrix will typically support one version back (the current version and the previous version) but maintenance will only occur on the most recent version. Often to resolve specific issues, Citrix may require upgrading to the latest version. Functionality in previous product versions will not be modified, enhanced or altered once an updated version is available.

Upgrade path: The upgrade path is relatively straightforward. For example, the 5.2 server component may be upgraded to 5.3 by running the 5.3 installation program.

Forward looking guidance: The lifecycle dates for the EdgeSight server component will coincide with the lifecycle dates posted for XenApp 6.5 or XenDesktop 5.x, whichever is longer. Check the Product Matrix Table for the latest XenApp or XenDesktop lifecycle dates, but at the time of this posting, the longer dates are as follows:

EOM: *31-Dec-17 or 24-Feb-2016

EOL: : *30-Jun-18 or 24-Aug-2016

*For customers that remain current in the Software Maintenance or Subscription Advantage programs, the longer term dates apply.

Agent: Code level maintenance of the EdgeSight agent is typically delivered in the form of minor versions or hotfixes.

For example, the 5.2 agent may be upgraded to 5.3 by running the 5.3 installation program.

Forward looking guidance: Lifecycle guidance for the EdgeSight agents is as follows:

1. For the EdgeSight for XenDesktop and EdgeSight for Endpoints agents, the lifecycle dates will coincide with the lifecycle dates posted for XenApp 5 FP or XenDesktop 5.x, whichever is longer. Check the Product Matrix Table for the latest XenApp or XenDesktop lifecycle dates, but at the time of this posting, the longer dates are as follows:

EOM: 17-Dec-2014

EOL: 17-Jun-2015

2. For the EdgeSight for XenApp Agent, there is a version dependency between XenApp and the EdgeSight for XenApp agent so there are two scenarios:

a. In XenApp deployments of XenApp 5.0 FP and before, the EdgeSight 5.3 agent for XenApp represents a maintenance baseline given it is the last release that supports 32 bits. In these deployments, the agent will not be superseded by the EdgeSight for XenApp agent 5.4. The lifecycle dates will coincide with the lifecycle dates posted for XenApp 5 FP or XenDesktop 5.x, whichever is longer. Check the Product Matrix Table for the latest XenApp or XenDesktop lifecycle dates, but at the time of this posting, the longer dates are as follows:

EOM: 17-Dec-2014

EOL: 17-Jun-2015

b. In XenApp deployments of XenApp 6.0 and later, the EdgeSight 5.4 agent for XenApp represents a new maintenance baseline. Lifecycle dates will coincide with the lifecycle dates posted for XenApp 6.5. Check the Product Matrix Table for the latest XenApp lifecycle dates, but at the time of this posting, the longer dates are as follows:

EOM: *31-Dec-17 or 24-Feb-2016

EOL: *30-Jun-18 or 24-Aug-2016

*For customers that remain current in the Software Maintenance or Subscription Advantage programs, the longer term dates apply.

EdgeSight for NetScaler

EdgeSight for NetScaler is maintained and supported as follows:

Code level maintenance of the product is typically delivered in the form of minor versions or hotfixes.

Upgrade path: The upgrade path for the product is relatively straightforward. For example, the product may be upgraded from the previous version to the next version by running the installation program for the next version.

Forward looking guidance: Citrix intends to offer maintenance and support as described above until further notice.

EdgeSight for Load Testing

EdgeSight for Load Testing is maintained and supported as follows:

Code level maintenance of this component is typically delivered in the form of minor versions or hotfixes.

For example, the components may be upgraded from the previous version to the next version by running the installation program for the next version.

Forward looking guidance: The load testing component is being discontinued and will not be included in XenApp and XenDesktop releases in 2013 and beyond. Citrix will be recommending the use of other commercially available load testing tools like Login VSI. EOM and EOL dates are as follows:

EOM: 30-Jun-2013

EOL: 31-Dec-2013
