The 5 Best Early Retirement Forums

If you’re looking to retire early (who isn’t lol), then you’ll definitely want to hang out at these early retirement forums.

You may be surprised to find out that there aren’t many forums about retiring early, but who needs a bunch of them when the ones that DO exist are pretty damn awesome.

I’ve collected a list of the 5 best early retirement forums here for you. They aren’t ranked in any order. But what they all have is an excellent community of retired people or people looking to retire early, ready to chime in with thoughts and advice.

Forums is, in my opinion, the BEST way to learn personal finance. I think the best way to make smart decisions is to study people who have made similar decisions and listen to as many others as possible who have had success. You can learn something from everyone, and forums are filled with people who have an opinion on what’s best.

Five Incredibly Useful Early Retirement Forums

City Data Forum

The retirement section of City Data is just MASSIVE! With over half the threads receiving thousands of views or more, it’s one of the liveliest retirement forum. Retirement is, of course, the main topic, however you’ll find a lot of general money topics as well. And to be honest, they directly relate to retirement anyway. The only small draw back is that it’s just one thread that covers retirement. Now, I don’t think there are many sub sections you can make from a retire early forum, but it makes it a littler harder to find what you want since there is no specific section for it. Most retirement forums are like this, however, so it’s not a huge deal.

Early Retirement . Org Forum

The Early Retirement & Financial Independence forum is probably the biggest retirement forum available. It’s a website dedicated to retirement. Just looking at the volume of users, posts, and threads, it’s got the numbers to back it up. I’d say, if you only wanted to stick with one retirement forum, you’d probably want stick with this one. The community is active and full of people ready to help, and of course, give their 2 cents.

The one big difference that separates this forum from the rest is that it has sub sections that talk about sub topics of retirement, such as “health and early retirement” and “young dreamers”. I love that. I’m “somewhat” young, and the young dreamers sub section immediately caught my attention – though I don’t think you’re ever too old to dream :). Make sure you check out this amazing resource of people and knowledge.

Early Retirement Extreme Forum

Early Retirement Extreme is a website that talks mostly about retiring early, with the occasional topic about finance and random stuff. Their forum is fairly active, too. The small issue with it is that their forum is mostly geared towards topics not related to early retirement. Things like money, DIY skills, and politics. They do have a money section, which is, unsurprisingly their most popular topic. Though it’s not a forum solely focuses on helping you retire early, it is a website about that, and the people that frequent the forum will be people who are also looking to quit working earlier rather than later.

Senior Forums

Senior Forums is exactly like it sounds – a forum for seniors. You can expect to find a lot of people who’ve gone through a lot of life, some rich, some poor. They’ll all share their experiences with you. Their retirement and early retirement sections are quite small and not overly active. But I included this forum here because it has a lot of value for someone looking to retire early because I feel you need to learn from those who’s done it – whether they made it or not. Yo can learn a lot from people who have experienced the things you’re about to go through. Think of it like sitting with grandpa while he tells you how he made it through WW2.

Mr Money Mustache

Mr. Money Musatache is not a early retirement forum specifically, but it’s the best forum in all of the personal finance world (my humble opinion). They easily have the highest engagement and lively contributors from my experience. I’ve never seen so many long detailed posts about specific issues, answers to questions, and people sharing their knowledge. And you better believe there are a ton of young guns looking to retire early lurking and posting. If you have any early retirement questions or want to know anything about money for that matter, this is the one forum I would use as an “overall’ awesome place to hang out and meet people who can help you out.

Well there you have it, five quality forums to help you work a little less in your life, and live a little larger. Remember, while some of these forums are specifically about retirement, they will either have people who have have retired early hanging out there, or or people looking to retire early. I’d say the top two retirement forums would be City Data and early-retirement.org. You can get some variety by visiting other types. I think it’s so odd that only a few retirement blogs actually exist. Who doesn’t want to quit working early? Anyway, I hope you really enjoyed this and it was useful.
