Dual Diagnosis Services

Dual Diagnosis services offer a managed continuum of care designed to provide a comprehensive system of treatment and recovery from co-occurring psychiatric and substance disorders. Co-occurring psychiatric and substance disorders are treated simultaneously with a clear recognition that stabilization/arresting of the addiction is the most immediate concern upon the patient’s entering treatment. Staff are dedicated to providing a thorough evaluation and a direct and focused treatment plan.

While all of our units have the ability to manage patients with co-occurring psychiatric and substance disorders, those with a primary substance disorder diagnosis can only be referred to Arbour Hospital or Arbour-HRI Hospital.

All inpatient dual diagnosis treatment protocols include the use of Subutex, a medication that works to reduce the effects of opioid dependence and prevents withdrawal symptoms, for patients detoxifying from opioid addictions. Arbour Counseling Services in Allston, Brookline, Jamaica Plain, Norwell and Woburn offer Suboxone Treatment Programs.

Dual Diagnosis program components include: crisis stabilization, inpatient treatment, partial hospitalization/intensive outpatient program, outpatient services, on-site programs including AA and Al-Anon, and community linkages including sober housing.

For Dual Diagnosis admissions, please contact our Intake Department. For Outpatient Services call an ACS center nearest you offering SA services.

Physicians are on the medical staff of a specific organization(s) including Arbour Hospital, Arbour-Fuller Hospital, Arbour-HRI Hospital, Westwood Lodge, Pembroke Hospital, Arbour Counseling Services, or Arbour SeniorCare, but, with limited exceptions, are independent practitioners who are not employees or agents of the applicable organization. The facility shall not be liable for actions or treatments provided by physicians.

Model representations of real patients are shown. Actual patients cannot be divulged due to HIPAA regulations.
