CAHIIM accreditation is the ONLY accreditation that is acceptable if you want to earn AHIMA credentials of RHIA or RHIT. You will NOT be able to sit for the RHIA, RHIT exams if the school’s HIM or HIT program is not CAHIIM accredited. It is very important that when researching schools, you make sure they are CAHIIM accredited! Many HIM schools/programs will tell you they are accredited, when they are actually accredited by some other accrediting organization other than CAHIIM. These other accreditations will do you no good! You need to make sure they have the CAHIIM accreditation BEFORE applying or enrolling! Contact CAHIIM at www.cahiim.org for any questions and to check to see if your program is
CAHIIM accredited!
