Honolulu Schools with Digital Photography Degrees
No schools in Honolulu offer degrees specifically in digital photography, but there are a couple that offer studies in digital photography as part of degree programs in relevant fields. University of Hawaii at Manoa
The University of Hawaii at Manoa offers undergraduate and graduate photography programs through its Department of Art and Art History. Coursework and studio requirements for these interdisciplinary programs are designed to build students' photography techniques and help them explore art history and theory.
Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography
This program teaches students how photography is interconnected with other contemporary art disciplines. This 60-credit-hour, terminal degree program takes about three years to complete. To be admitted, students must have a bachelor's degree with significant coursework in art history and studio art. Applicants must also submit a portfolio showcasing their abilities and three letters of recommendation. Program requirements include a series of studio seminars, art history courses and electives. MFA candidates must also complete thesis research and an exhibition of their work.
Leeward Community College
Leeward Community College offers a creative media concentration through its digital media program. In addition to teaching students technical skills in photography, the program covers such areas as digital video, web design, and digital art.
Associate in Science in Digital Media
This 2-year program is available with an emphasis in creative media. Core coursework introduces students to computer drawing, digital video, and print and website design. The creative media concentration covers such subjects as digital printmaking, interface design and digital painting. A grade of C or better is needed for these courses to apply towards program completion.
