In order to aid our readers in such situations, Colorado Springs Style has undertaken the task of asking local attorneys, in a confidential peer-to-peer review, who they would recommend should a friend or family member require legal assistance - their picks comprising this year’s list of TOP ATTORNEYS in Colorado Springs.
How Was the List Created?
Who conducted the survey? Colorado Springs Style, working in association with the El Paso County Bar Association, conducted the survey.
Who was surveyed? Approximately 1,100 licensed attorneys in El Paso County were invited via email to complete the survey, with electronic reminders sent by the El Paso County Bar Association encouraging participation. In addition, attorneys were asked to forward the online voting information to their colleagues.
What instructions were they given in order to complete the survey? Voting was held online from October 25 through November 3, 2013. Attorneys who visited the site were instructed to enter the names of up to three nominees in each specified field. All attorneys in El Paso County in good standing were available for selection. Voting was limited to attorneys only; all other votes were discounted.
Did attorneys vote only on their own specified field of law? No, attorneys could vote across the board.
Are the attorneys listed in any particular order? The attorneys are listed by their specified fields of law in alphabetical order.
Were respondents allowed to make comments? This is a straight listing; therefore no comments were allowed to influence the final list.
How is this an objective listing? The field of law is a profession that relies heavily on attorneys referring to one another. Peer review is a very effective method of determining who is outstanding in the field, since it’s based on the opinions of those in the know: their colleagues.
Was any additional research done on those nominated? Once the ballots were complete, each nominee was carefully evaluated on the basis of the survey results, the legitimacy of their license, and their current standing with the El Paso County Bar Association.
Can attorneys pay to be on The List? No compensation of any kind is taken from attorneys in return for being included in The List, nor were attorneys paid for their participation in the survey.
