IU Health LifeLine provides preeminent critical care transportation and is the first point of contact with Indiana's only nationally ranked academic health center. Indiana’s Most Advanced Critical Care Transport Provider

24/7 Transfer Center

One phone call gives referring physicians everything they need. Physicians who call the IU Health 24/7 Transfer Center can consult with an IU Health specialist while their patient is accepted and a transport is arranged.

Safety First

IU Health LifeLine goes beyond FAA standards to ensure our helicopters are in the most pristine condition. Every part of each helicopter is inspected and replaced as part of a regular maintenance inspection.

Size

Our model of helicopters is more advanced and provides more space than any other emergency care helicopter in the state. The increased size of our cabin provides us with full body access to patients as well as the ability to transport additional crew members with specialized training for complex critical care cases. For example, during high-risk obstetric and neonatal transports, we are able to fly a labor and delivery nurse (OB RN) and neonatal pediatric specialist (NPS), in addition to our standard crew on transport.

Our Team

IU Health LifeLine critical care and emergency care professionals are board-certified and highly skilled to treat any urgent care patient. We are able to bring trained specialists on every transport to treat patients depending on the specific needs of the patient.

Priority Access

As Indiana’s first established air medical transportation service provider—and one of the largest hospital-based providers in the nation—IU Health LifeLine is the only transport provider in the state affiliated with two Level I trauma hospitals. We have priority access to any IU Health hospital, including IU Health Methodist Hospital (a Level I trauma center), Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health (Indiana’s only Level I pediatric trauma center) and IU Health University Hospital.

Our team and the coordinating IU Health hospital team will work with you and your patient to ensure the highest level of safety, treatment and comfort are achieved.

IU Health LifeLine has a unique partnership with the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM). This partnership means IU Health LifeLine is backed by decades of experience and access to the latest in medical technology and research.
